Dental Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities:assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
- x-rays on our teeth
- helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
- providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
- teaching patients good oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;
- show us how to brush and floss well
- taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts
- communicating with patients and suppliers (scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies)
- helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery
Salary: $22,207-$43,631
Education: 9-11 months to become a dental assistant in their training. After their accreditation they need to get certified.
Demand or need for this profession: To become a dental assistant they require to have a high school diploma to receive on-the-job training
